Making Complex Science Clear When the Stakes Are High

Helping Santersus AG sharpen its executive story for investors, industry leaders, and other critical audiences

The Challenge

Santersus AG developed NucleoCapture, a technology designed to remove specific elements from patients’ blood. Specifically, these targeted elements are neutrophil extracellular traps, or NETs, which are implicated in serious diseases and conditions ranging from sepsis and organ failure to autoimmune disease and cancer.

The science is sophisticated. The communications challenge was to make the significance of that science easier to understand without oversimplifying it.

That became particularly important when Santersus AG was invited to pitch at the MedTech Innovator 2026 Radar Forum. The invitation placed the company among the top 10% of more than 1,800 global applicants and would put the CEO in front of manufacturers, healthcare providers, investors, and regulatory leaders.

For executive communications, that created a fundamental challenge:

How do you make highly complex science clear without making it simplistic?

The Strategy

I worked with the CEO and CMO of Santersus AG to strengthen the company's executive storytelling and prepare presentation materials for MedTech Innovator. I also helped advance the company's and executives' social media presence.

The goal wasn't to make the science sound less sophisticated.

It was to make the significance of the science easier to grasp.

That meant approaching communications through the needs of the audience rather than simply through everything the company could say about its technology. The introduction of the CEO’s presentation shared a common experience - a clogged bathroom sink. This analogy helped the lay audience quickly understand what NETs do within the human body.

For a complex healthcare innovator, clarity isn't the absence of scientific rigor. It's what allows that rigor to be understood.

The Result

Later in 2026, Santersus AG and Xenetic Biosciences announced a definitive share exchange agreement. The proposed transaction is expected to create a Nasdaq-listed, multi-indication clinical-stage company focused on NET-targeting therapeutics.

The Bigger Lesson

Complexity isn't proof of credibility. Being understood is.

The more sophisticated the science, the greater the need for communication that gives audiences a clear path from what the technology does to why it matters.

That's especially true when executives are speaking to investors, partners, clinicians, regulators, and other audiences evaluating both the science and the business behind it.

Great science deserves more than accurate communication.

It deserves to be understood.
